About us
Chuckbeat ("music words images community") is a collective of artists founded in 2001. Epicentered in San Francisco, CA with tendrils worldwide, the collective includes musicians, writers, photographers and other visual artists. The collective's main goal is strength in numbers, shining a light on each other's work, and artistic cross-pollination.
In the physical media era (before digital/streaming became the norm), the Chuckbeat Records imprint released a compilation CD and numerous albums from individual bands. (We still ship some physical releases from this era through our Mail order, with most titles also available in digital re-release.)
However, our Chuckbeat collective extends well beyond the record label, including established bands who have released music on other labels, as well as shorter-lived collaborations, one-off projects, and others, who for various reasons never released individually on the Chuckbeat Records imprint.
Many Chuckbeat bands continue to release music online (see Music for full list of current/past projects), and we are still in the process of digitizing more releases from our back catalog.
